The Girl Next Door Chapter 50

Kate spent the day getting ready for prom, and when her date arrived around five in the afternoon for pictures, Kate opened the door.
“Hey, Andrew,” Kate greeted her date.
“Hey, Katie,” Andrew said, giving Kate a hug.
“You clean up well,” Kate joked.
“So do you,” he joked back, and Kate gave him a little joking shove.
Her parents came into the entryway, and greeted Andrew. They took pictures, and waited around for a few other couples to show up. Soon enough, everyone came, and what seemed like a thousand pictures later, Kate and her group went out to dinner.
Kate and Andrew had a lot of fun at prom. They had fun with everyone, and went to the after party at a rec center that had everything in the world. They stayed there until around five in the morning, and then went home, because they were so tired. Andrew dropped Kate off, and Kate told her parents she was home, and then fell onto the bed, because she was so tired.
Kate slept until one in the afternoon, and was once again woken up by her phone. Of course, it was Sidney, asking her how prom was. They talked for a long time, and Sidney told her he was coming back to Pittsburgh on Tuesday, and would be staying for a week, for Kate’s graduation and to meet Ray Shero. Kate told him she couldn’t wait, and that she was excited.
At that point, Kate’s mom knocked on the door, not realizing Kate was up, and she had come to wake her up because she wanted Kate to help her clean for her graduation party tomorrow. So, Kate said good-bye to Sidney, and then changed, and got things ready for the rest of the day.
The next day was Kate’s party, and everyone had a lot of fun. Everyone came; all of Kate’s friends, the Lemieuxs, family friends, everyone. It went on well past the time it was supposed to end, but everyone had a good time. Kate, who had still not fully recovered from prom, was so tired she crashed the second she got to bed.
Monday was Memorial Day, and Kate had to work at the rink in the morning, so she got up early and headed in for a few hours. When she got back, it was early afternoon, so she helped her dad finish up opening their pool, since it was really warm. After she was done, she went inside to relax, and then got a call on her cell phone.
“Hello?” she asked.
“Hey, Katie.”
“Sidney! How are you?”
“Pretty good. Yourself?”
“Oh, fine. I had work this morning, and just finished helping my dad with the pool. I can’t wait to see you tomorrow.”
“You don’t have to wait until tomorrow.”
After a short pause, Kate asked him, “What did you just say?”
“Walk over to your front door and open it.”
Kate ran out of her room and down the stairs and flung the front door open. Standing there was Sidney, grinning from ear to ear.
