Chapter 16 - How I Spent My Summer Vacation

Unlike me a couple of weeks ago when it had been Sidney and I arguing, Catrine wasn’t smart enough to take it behind closed doors. Instead she and Mark had to have it out in front of everyone. I didn’t want to be a part of it. So as soon as Catrine fixated her anger on Mark instead of on me, I wandered off. It was nearly midnight. Hopefully Sidney would be able to call at the very least soon. I definitely was NOT enjoying myself now.

Everyone whispered behind their hands everywhere I went. All I really wanted to do was go to my room and hide, but I couldn’t do that, because Catrine had sent people there too have sex, and who knew how long they’d be. I sighed, and my phone rang. “Hello?” I yelled, heading outside to the March cold to avoid the noise.

“Nickie?” Sidney’s voiced said quietly.

“Hey sweetie.” I replied shivering. “How are your parents?”

“Okay.” He said. “Whatcha doing?”

“Mark and Catrine are breaking up in front of everyone because she sent people to have sex in my room because Mark came to talk to me and Mark’s had enough.”

“She sent people to have sex in your room?!” He replied.

“Yeah, I’m a whore and because I talked to Mark, who I happen to live with, I should be punished by having strangers have sex in my bed.”

“Ew.” Sidney said. “So I guess that means I can’t come over so we can have sex in your bed huh?”

I giggled. “Nnnooo.” I said shivering my teeth chattering.

“Where are you?” He asked.

“Outside.” I replied. “It’s the only place I’ve got that’s kind of quiet.”

“Come over here.” He said. “We’ll hang out in the living room.”

“Are you sure?” I replied unsure.

“My parents sleep like the dead.” He said. “We’ll just cuddle and watch a movie or something. Umm you aren’t too drunk to drive are you?”

I glanced at my beer. “Umm maybe a little.” I said unsure, but still wanting nothing more then to see Sid. “I could make it though, it’s not far.”

“I’ll be there in five.” He replied. “Be ready.”

“Are you sure?” I asked.

“I was going to sneak out to see you either way Nickie.” He said. “Now I’m just sneaking you in too.”

“I’ll see you then baby.” I said, turning to go into the house.

I went downstairs, pushed my way into the bathroom and brushed my teeth. Grabbing my coat, I walked out the front door, and Sidney was sitting in his SUV. I pulled the door open and climbed in. “Hey baby.” He said, kissing me softly.

“How was the rest of you day?” I asked, as I pulled my seatbelt on.

He shrugged. “It was okay.” He said. “I mean, I love seeing my parents and Taylor and all, but I guess I’ve gotten used to spending most of my time with you.”

I smiled. “We do spend a lot of time together don’t we?” I paused. “You know Eric said we were pathetic.”

Sid shrugged. “Whatever. Eric doesn’t even have a girlfriend, so what does he know? And its not like the time we’ve spent together has been bad for us. My parents have been impressed with how good my grades are so far this semester.”

“I guess my parents would be impressed.” I said crankily. “If they actually remembered where I was every now and then.”

“Sorry Nickie.” He said, reaching over and gently messaging my hand.

“No I’m sorry Sid.” I said, cuddling into him, as he wrapped his free arm around my shoulders.
“I should, well, I shouldn’t have brought it up.”

“Shh.” He said, dropping a kiss on my forehead. “They affect you. It’s too be expected.”

“Have I ever mentioned that I have the best boyfriend ever?” I replied.

“I believe you may have said so a time or two.” He replied with a grin. “However, I believe that said boyfriend would love to have you show him.”

I grinned wickedly. “Well I would love to show said boyfriend.” I said. “But said boyfriend’s parents are going to be in like, the room down the hall, so I would far prefer just a quiet cuddle with, like, Sportscentre on.”

He smiled down at me as we pulled into his driveway. “I believe that can be arranged brat.”

I shook my head as Sidney quietly opened the door (which he’d left unlocked) and we eased our shoes off and snuck into the living room. Saying nothing, Sid turned on the TV and grabbed the remote. Reaching for a blanket, he patted the spot on the couch next to him and I cuddled next to him, his arm wrapped around my shoulders, my head resting on his chest. He took the blanket and covered us with it.

I looked up at him, and our eyes met. He leaned down and we kissed for several long moments. Finally he eased back, whispering in my ear as he did so. “If we keep it up, I’m going to forget that my parents are down the hall.”

I smiled and snuggled closer, a hand heading south of the border teasingly as I did so, and Sid groaned low. “Stop it.” He whispered, grabbing my hand and placing a hot kiss on the palm, making me shiver deliciously.

“I couldn’t help myself.” I said.

He brushed his fingers over my breasts. “I have a hard time helping myself too Nickie.” He whispered. “But my parents are right down the hall.”

I stuck my tongue out at him and put my head back on his chest as we watched Sportscentre. His hand started stroking my hair gently and I wrapped my arm around his waist and squeezed tightly. Coby and I had never been able to do this. We’d never just held each other in silence. We were either making out or with our friends. Anytime there was silence in our relationship, it was completely and totally uncomfortable.

Realizing this, I realized that I had made the right decision. If I’d ever questioned my decision to jump into bed with Sidney, I didn’t anymore. I mean, yeah, I’d rubbed him the wrong way at first, but that was because he wasn’t sure he wanted to settle down. Yet here he was, and Eric could call his pathetic all he wanted, but we were happy just to be together. Sure we lusted after each other, but that didn’t mean that we had to go at it every time we saw each other.

It was comfortable. The whole relationship was. I liked that. Looking up at Sidney, he immediately met my gaze and smiled at me. I reached up and traced his lips with my fingers. To my intense surprise, a very deep part of me wanted to tell him that I loved him. I started, and looked down. I didn’t know where that thought had come from. I mean, I knew I liked him, and that I liked him a whole lot more then I’d like Coby, but love? That was a bit much… wasn’t it?

His arms tightened around me, and his lips brushed my forehead. We watched all of Sportscentre like that, just cuddled together, finally laying down so we were spooning on the couch. I accidentally moved a little closer and he moaned. “Nickie, sweetie. Are you trying to make me explode?”

“Sorry.” I whispered. “I didn’t mean too.”

“Just be careful.” He replied, looking pained.

I kissed him softly. “I promise Sid.”

We lay there through the highlight of the night. But all of a sudden I felt something in my pocket vibrating. More specifically, we felt my cell phone vibrating. Sidney moaned. “Nickie….”

“Sorry.” I whispered back, reaching down and grabbing. I read the text message quickly. “Mark says that he cleared the people out of my room.”

“Did he put new sheets on the bed?” Sidney asked, an impatient tone to his voice.

I giggled. “Should I ask?” I said.

“Yes!” Sid said fiercely, his lips now working feverishly on my neck, making me squirm as I tapped a message on my phone.

A few minutes later I had my answer. “He wants to know why we ask.” I giggled.

Sid grumbled. “He knows damn well why I’m asking.”

I giggled again. “I told him we’d be there in 15 minutes.” I said as I finished typing another text message. “Let’s go now so that you can get your butt home before morning.”

“Sounds like a plan.” He replied.

Leaving the blanket on the couch, Sid turned off the TV and we quietly made our way out of the house. Sidney held the passenger side door open for me, smacking my ass gently as I got into the truck. “You are a horny, horny boy.” I said with a giggle.

“Nickie I’m 16. This surprises you how?” He said grinning.

I just laughed and shook my head. When we arrived at Tante Amèlie’s we discovered that the party was winding down, which suited us just fine. We didn’t even bother to really say ‘hi’ to anyone, we just kissed and groped our way into my bedroom, being sure to lock the door behind us. I was kissing my way down his chest when Sidney moaned. “God I love you Nickie.”

Stopping dead in my tracks I glared at him. “What did you just say?” I demanded.

He blushed a bright red. “I love you Nickie.” He said softly.

“And you only realized this when I was on my way to giving you head?” I snapped angrily.

“No.” He said. “I’ve known for awhile.”

“So you only say it when you’re about to get head?” I demanded.

“Why are you so upset Nickie?” He asked, pulling me into his arms.

“Because it’s a well known fact that if a guy only says he loves you during, immediately before, or immediately after sex, then he doesn’t really love you.” I said, burying my face in his shoulder. “And I love you too much to have to face the idea of you not loving me.”

“You love me too?” He asked, his voice incredulous.

“Of course I love you phenom.” I grumbled. “Why else would I put up with dating someone who travels every other day it seems.”

“Nicole.” He whispered his voice soft. “I do love you brat. So we can just cuddle tonight if you want.”

“I’d like that.” I admitted, wanting to be absolutely sure that he did in fact love me.

We lay down and I cuddled into his arms. “I’ll stay until you fall asleep brat.” He said hugging me tightly, and dropping a light kiss on the top of my head.

I listened to his breathing, the beat of his heart lulling me gently to sleep. The next thing I remember, I was waken up, still in Sidney’s arms, by Mark, pounding on my bedroom door.
“Nickie get up here quick.” He said. “And make sure you’re dressed.”

Barely awake and not sure what was going on, I untangled myself from Sid’s arms and dropped a quick kiss on his cheek as he mumbled and rolled over. Grabbing his sweats I pulled them on, and tossed a tight t-shirt over top. I wandered upstairs, rubbing sleep from my eyes. “What’s up?” I asked.

“See for yourself.” He said, holding the door open.

A plump blond woman was standing in the doorway, and she didn’t look happy. “Is my son here?” She demanded. “When I got up this morning he wasn’t in his room and his truck was gone. Eric said he was probably here.” She glanced at me quickly. “Are those my son’s sweats?” She demanded.

I immediately realized that this was Sidney’s mother, and chose to ignore her last question. “Umm he’s in the basement Mrs. Crosby. Give me a minute and I’ll….”

She pushed past me and headed downstairs. I blushed. Sid and I had totally been naked when he said that he loved me and we hadn’t bothered to get dressed. He was naked in my bed. I hurried downstairs after her. “Sidney Patrick Crosby! You have some explaining to do!” She called. “I wake up and find you gone and Eric tells me to that you’re probably at you’re girlfriend’s. What kind of parents let their sixteen year old daughter have overnight guests?”

Sidney emerged from my bedroom wearing nothing but his boxers and t-shirt. “Mom, calm down.” He said. “Give Nickie and I a minute, and I’ll explain everything later.”

She glanced at me. “Alone?” She asked.

“Well yeah.” Sid said, unashamed. “Unless of course you want me to drive home in my boxers, I’d like my sweats back.”

“Sorry.” I muttered. “They were the first thing I grabbed.”

“It’s okay brat.” He said softly, knowing that his mother wouldn’t really understand the significance of the nickname.

“Fine.” She said, folding her arms across his chest. “But make it quick.”

We headed into my room, and I pulled off his sweats, grabbing a pair of jeans out of my dresser and pulling them on. “It’s my fault.” Sidney said, hugging me tightly and kissing my forehead. “I can’t believe I feel asleep.”

“It’s okay Sidney.” I said. “We’ll deal with it together.”

“I love you.” He said, his eyes burning into mine.

“I love you too.” I replied, smiling up at him. “And I’m coming with you.”

“Nickie, you don’t have to.” He said looking uneasy.

I took his face in my hands and kissed him softly. “Your Mom, and probably your Dad, are concerned about my family. No one can explain them better then I can. We messed up together, and we’ll deal with this together.”
