When Sidney came back the next morning, they did not have a chance to talk. After the game that night, they met up in the family room afterwards to talk about the next night, their first date.
“Kate,” Sidney began. “Do you want to go see the nine o’clock movie? We could go out and get a pizza or something beforehand, and eat it at my place.”
“Sounds great,” Kate said, smiling.
“I just have to be back by 11:30,” he said, smiling shyly. “Mario’s rules.”
“That sounds good,” Kate said.
“Great,” he said. “Well, I’ve gotta go change, can I pick you up around seven tomorrow?”
“Sure,” she said.
“Great,” he said, giving her a sweaty hug, which Kate did not shy away from. “See you then.”
Kate waved bye, and then met her parents out at the car, excited for what tomorrow night would bring.

The doorbell rang, and Kate went downstairs to answer it.
“Hey,” Sidney said. Kate could not believe how hot he looked, even though he was only wearing jeans and a black fleece over his polo shirt.
“Hey,” she said back. “Mom, Dad, Sidney’s here! I’ll be back by 11:30!”
“Have fun, Katie,” Sarah said, her voice coming out of the kitchen. “See you then!”
They walked out to Sidney’s car (well, Mario’s; Sidney hadn’t gotten his car yet, it would be coming soon though), and he opened the door for her. She got in, and put on her seat belt, and they drove over to the pizza place, and picked up their pizza. They drove back to Mario’s, and after they watched a little television, they went out to the movie. They didn’t have much of the “first date awkwardness”, because they had known each other for so long, and didn’t have to ask all of those questions. During the movie, Sidney reached over and held her hand, which surprised Kate a little at first, but then she looked over at Sidney, he looked at her, and they smiled at each other. They held hands for the rest of the movie, and on the way home, too. When they got back to Kate’s house, he walked her up to the front door, where they talked.
“I had a lot of fun tonight,” he told her, big smile on his face.
“Me too,” she said, smiling.
“Do you want to hang out some time this week?” he asked. “We really can’t go out or whatever, because of everything, but do you just wanna hang out at my place?”
“I’d love to,” she said, smiling.
“Great,” he said, once again smiling that smile that drove Kate crazy inside.
They stood there at the door for a little bit, when he decided to make a move.
“I’d better get going,” he said. “I’ll see you later this week.”
“Great,” Kate said, her heart sinking a little bit.
Kate opened the door, and stepped inside, and then closed it. She then walked upstairs, and told her parents that she was home. They could tell it had gone well, and didn’t ask many questions. Kate walked back to her room, and went to bed, wondering what this week would bring her.
